Decks at Skatestore

Skateboards have been made from wood since the beginning, but a lot has changed over the years. From the 10-inch vert boards of the ’80s to the narrower football and egg shapes of the ’90s, and the sub-8-inch trend of the 2000s: evolution never stops. These days, anything goes: street decks, shaped transition decks, football shapes for curb crushers. Every size and shape has its own purpose.

Sizes
What feels good, what you're used to, and even your body type all play a role in choosing the right deck. In short:
Anything up to 7.75 inches is ideal for smaller skaters.
Between 7.75 and 8.5 inches, you're looking at the typical street decks: agile, easy to flip, and not too bulky.
Anything over 8.5 inches works better for transition, curbs, or simply for bigger skaters who want more surface under their feet.

Shapes
Larger decks often come in eye-catching shapes. Shaped decks have their roots in surf culture and used to give pro decks a unique flair. But it's not just about looks: shapes like the football or egg are lightweight, offer plenty of deck space, and still feel familiar at the nose and tail. This way, you ride bigger while keeping the benefits of a smaller deck.

Technology
Technology doesn’t stand still either. While most decks are still made of wood, brands like Powell Peralta (Flight decks) and the DLXSF family (DBX boards from Anti Hero, Krooked, and Real) offer innovative constructions that make decks stronger, more durable, and longer-lasting.

At Skatestore.com, we work closely with top distributors to offer a wide selection of leading brands. Think Anti Hero,
