Polar Skate Co was founded in 2011 by former pro skateboarder and creative visionary Pontus Alv out of Malmö, Sweden. Since its inception, Polar has grown to be one of the most respected and influential independent skate and streetwear brands worldwide. Through its strong DIY ethos, the brand combines skateboarding, art, culture, and various forms of underground creativity.
With original graphics, unique deck shapes, and high-quality apparel, Polar has built a distinct identity that is bold, artistic, and unmistakably independent.
Hardware
Polar is known for its popsicle decks with a slightly smaller tail and a full, rounded nose, offering a unique feel. Beyond standard shapes, Polar frequently releases shaped decks such as the Surf Junior and Surf Sr, inspired by classic surf shapes. Some decks even include wheel wells and/or a slick bottom for added slide capabilities.
All Polar decks are pressed by BBS in Mexico, recognized for high-quality manufacturing, making each release solid and dependable. Many of the graphics are created or curated by Pontus himself, reflecting his artistic, collage-like style.
Soft goods
Over the last few years, Polar has become a point of reference for skate-inspired streetwear. The Polar Big Boy Jeans is one of the most iconic baggy fits in skate fashion today. Other signature items include the 93' Denim, Happy Sad Socks, Polar Puffer Jacket, knitwear, and Polar logo hoodies.
What really makes Polar stand out is that a lot of its apparel is made in Europe, which is a seal of quality but also one of sustainability.
