Carhartt WIP at Skatestore
Carhartt WIP is the modern streetwear division of iconic American workwear brand Carhartt, founded back in 1889 in Detroit by Hamilton Carhartt. Originally built for rail workers, carpenters, and laborers, the brand became synonymous with durability, functionality and honest, heavy-duty gear.
In 1994, Carhartt WIP was introduced to bring Carhartt’s rugged legacy into a new (European) context: Street culture, music, and of course, skateboarding. What started as a workwear icon quickly evolved into one of the most influential labels in skate and hip-hop style.
Today, Carhartt WIP is one of the most dominant brands at Skatestore and a staple in the wardrobes of many. Here’s a few items that might have already crossed your eyes that we'd like to highlight:
- Carhartt WIP Single Knee Pant: heavyweight cotton Dearborn Canvas pants, featuring a relaxed straight fit with a regular waist. Bartack stitching, tool pockets, and hammer loop offer utilitarian touches.
- Carhartt WIP Landon Pant: made from midweight cotton fabric with thick ridges. It is cut in a loose tapered fit with a regular waist, meaning that the pant has a roomy upper leg which tapers below the knee. Five-pocket style.
- Carhartt WIP Active Jacket: constructed in the classic, hard-wearing Dearborn Canvas, which has then been treated to make it water repellent. Features a 3M Thinsulate Insulation lining – a warm but lightweight alternative to down, which traps body heat whilst allowing moisture to escape.
- Carhartt WIP Detroit Jacket: A Carhartt WIP classic, the Detroit Jacket is constructed in our hardwearing 12 oz Dearborn Canvas and features a blanket lining for warmth. A corduroy collar, as well as a gold-tone zip closure at the front and on the chest pocket complete the design.
- Carhartt WIP Acrylic Watch Hat: The Acrylic Watch Hat is one of Carhartt WIP’s staple pieces, knit from warm Acrylic yarn in a stretchy rib stitch that ensures comfort and a fit suitable for everyone.
- Carhartt WIP Harlem Cap: An unlined six-panel style with a firm, curved peak. It is constructed from heavyweight, 11 wale cotton corduroy.
- Carhartt WIP Kickflip Backpack: Constructed from a recycled polyester-blend canvas, the unlined Kickflip Backpack is a water-repellent style. It features both mesh and zipped side pockets, and fastens with a two-way zip closure. The shoulder straps and back are padded for a more cushioned feel, while buckles throughout and elastic board straps on the front offer extra functionality.
- Carhartt WIP American Script line: loose fit and heavyweight tees, hoodies, crew and more with the unmistakable Carhartt WIP American script embroidery.
- Carhartt WIP Chase line: embroidered 'C' logo. Features a slightly more athletic fabric, regular fit. Hoodies and crews feature raglan sleeves for a more fitted look.
